All undergraduate students enrolled in a UK university are eligible to apply for the CEOx1Day program.
The three phases of the selection process:
Phase 1: Applying for CEOx1Day
Eligible* students must complete and submit an online application, which will be reviewed by Odgers Berndtson’s team of executive search experts. Applications will include background information, a CV with any relevant work or extra-curricular experience, and a short written essay highlighting your thoughts on leadership.
Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated on the breadth of relevant work, volunteer or extra-curricular experience, and the quality of their written answers.
Deadline: Applications close Midnight January 28th 2019
Time Commitment: approx. 1 hour

Phase 2: Online Leadership Assessment
Students having successfully completed stage 1 will be asked to take an online Hogan assessment that profiles their skills, competencies and leadership potential.
Evaluation: Hogan has developed a custom leadership assessment for CEOx1Day applicants identifying confident and ambitious individuals, who handle stress effectively, are politically astute, dependable, and who value learning and developing new skills.
Timing for Phase 2: January – February 2019
Time Commitment: 30 minutes
Phase 3: Assessment Day
Semi-finalists will be invited to a half-day assessment and interview session at Odgers Berndtson’s office in London, mirroring a real-life search process. This includes a one-on-one interview, a group activity and discussion, and the opportunity to network with Odgers Berndtson’s team of executive search experts. The students selected for this phase will also receive feedback on the assessments completed in Phase 2.
Evaluation Criteria for Phase 3: Semi-finalists will be assessed on their ability to think on their feet and work in a group, reflecting how they will perform when paired with a CEO. The evaluation will take into account each semi-finalist’s performance in activities like case studies, presentations, and in-person interviews.
Timing for Phase 3: 19 or 20 March 2019
Time Commitment: One-half day (+ travel time to Odgers Berndtson’s London office)

Each finalist will spend a full day shadowing a CEO and learning about their background, career path, and how they create value in their organization. Finalists will have an opportunity to spend one-on-one time with the CEO, attend meetings with their leadership team and tour the company’s headquarters and site facilities. Each CEOx1Day experience is unique to the participating organisation, which ensures an even more meaningful and memorable experience for both the student and the CEO.
