CEO for a Day in full swing
MBA students have been paired with 10 of the country’s top CEOs for a day of intense learning as part of the CEO For A Day programme.
The team of consultants at Odgers Berndtson Sub-Saharan Africa have implemented a rigorous process to ensure only the best students from Gordon Institute Of Business Science (GIBS), the University of Stellenbosch Business School and UCT Business School were selected.
To date, two pairings have taken place and Yomeshka Singh, MBA student at GIBS has spent two days with Mark Bowman, managing director of SABMiller. Yomeshka found herself flying to Botswana and Lesotho in the company jet to gain first-hand exposure to how the company operates across the African continent.
She also gained some valuable insights into how a self-aware leader manages a team that spans across countries.
“I have learnt so much, it was an amazing experience. While he has a very professional demeanour, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He believes that having fun in business is important. The biggest learning for me was not only to see his genuine interest in people but also his passion to up skill and grow individuals,” says Yomeshka.
CEO For A Day has been running successfully internationally for seven years and is in its second year of implementation in SA.
