Odgers Berndtson expands sports, gaming, and media practice with new gaming consultant

Odgers Berndtson has expanded its UK sports, gaming, and media practice with a new gaming consultant.

Kathryn Spetch will specialise in executive search appointments for a wide range of Odgers Berndtson’s clients in the gaming and interactive entertainment industries. Mirroring the international nature of the industry, Kathryn will be based in the UK but work with clients globally, including those in Europe and North America.

Prior to Odgers Berndtson, Kathryn was a consultant within Berwick Partners, the senior management division of the Odgers Berndtson group. There she worked with emerging leaders in the gaming industry, helping to appoint them to critical leadership positions.

Kathryn now has a global remit which will include supporting executive teams and boards across public and private business including companies from VC-backed indie start-ups to large scale global publishers and platforms across console, PC, and mobile. Kathryn will also work with key international development studios on executive production and creative roles.

Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Bulloss, head of the global gaming practice, said: “Expanding the gaming division within the sports, gaming, and media practice comes at a time of increasing convergence across these three areas. At the same time, the interactive entertainment industry is growing, there’s high M&A activity, and rapidly evolving business models. All of this has spiked demand for leadership, C-level, and board talent and with Kathryn’s background and expertise we are well placed to meet our client’s needs.”

The demand for executive level talent is reflective of the year-on-year growth of the industry. Global revenues in the interactive entertainment sector reached $203.1bn in 2022, a 5.4% growth on 2021. By 2024, the industry is forecasted to hit $222.6bn.
