14 University Students Selected for CEOx1Day 2018-2019
Connecting leaders of today with leaders of tomorrow! Odgers Berndtson launches the 2nd edition of CEOx1Day in Singapore – matching top university talent with top executives in Asia
Singapore, 4 January, 2019 - The CEOx1Day (CEO for a Day) programme is a global initiative, the first and only one of its kind, designed to uncover promising future leaders and to match them with today’s top leaders. The programme enables these young talents to learn about and experience the responsibilities and complexities required to lead some of the world’s leading businesses and organisations. At the same time, CEOs, through their interaction with and mentorship of the selected students, can better understand what drives the next generation of leaders.
This year’s programme attracted 160 undergraduate student applicants for 14 finalist places, a more than two-fold increase from the 69 applicants with 7 finalists in its inaugural year of 2017-2018 edition. The participating tertiary institutions were the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), with Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) being the most recent participating university this year.
Mr Andie Rees, Managing Partner, Odgers Berndtson Southeast Asia said, “Singapore was chosen as the first country in this region to roll out the programme due to its diversity, dynamism and openness. We believe that the landscape of leaders in Singapore has changed tremendously and the CEOx1Day will enable organisations to remain at the top of their game in terms of attracting high calibre candidates from local tertiary institutions to be groomed as future leaders.”

Added Mr Rees, “While still in its fledgling state in Singapore, compared to other offices in the world, we see great promise in growing this programme further, to attract more tertiary institutions and organisations to participate in this initiative. The success of the programme in Singapore is attested to by the fact that we have doubled the number of applicants we have received from undergraduates from participating tertiary institutions since the launch just last year. We have also grown the number of participating CEOs from seven to 14 this year, with three repeat participating companies.”
