New Inclusive Recruitment Diagnostic provides precision focus on inclusion maturity

Odgers Berndtson, a leading global executive search and recruitment firm, has launched its Inclusive Recruitment Diagnostic (IRD).

A first of its kind, the diagnostic has already been used by fifty leading organisations, representing over 1.2 million employees, including Burger King, the NHS, and Cancer Research UK.

Analysis of the completed self-assessment data highlights:

  • Organisations that train their hiring managers on inclusive recruitment practices score 15% higher across the six recruitment process.
  • Organisations with an inclusive recruitment policy are five times more likely to train their hiring managers on inclusive recruitment practices.
  • Only 46% of organisations train hiring managers on inclusive recruitment.

Designed specifically for recruitment, the IRD provides a highly detailed inclusion maturity level, and science-backed* recommendations to improve inclusive recruitment practices.

To achieve this, organisations are taken through a three-step approach:

Step 1 - Organisations conduct a 27 question self-assessment which identifies their current maturity.

Step 2 - A bespoke, evidence-based report is produced, detailing recommendations and best practice on how to progress to the next level of inclusion maturity.

Step 3 - An in-depth strategy call with an inclusive recruitment expert to agree the most impactful actions and strategies to improve the recruitment processes, with regards to attracting, recruiting, and retaining diverse talent.

The IRD assesses the potential level of unconscious bias users apply in answering each question and identifies where this can be mitigated within the report

Sue Johnson, Managing Partner of Inclusion & Diversity Consulting at Odgers Berndtson, said:

“Our IRD provides a truly holistic assessment of an organisation’s recruitment process. Drilling down into every step of the recruitment process from role definition through to offer and onboarding. The bespoke recommendations and strategic action planning call enables organisations to focus on the key actions that will accelerate their inclusion and diversity journey.”

Commenting on the IRD, Suzie Huggan, Head of Talent Acquisition at Cancer Research UK, said:

"It was incredibly valuable to complete a 360 review of our recruitment practices to identify, not only where we were making progress, but opportunities to do things differently. The discussion with the Odgers Berndtson team following the report provided a great external and best practice perspective and I came away with some clear, tangible actions to implement."
