Odgers Berndtson Canada's Vancouver team recently hosted a Women in Clean Tech networking event at the Water Street Café in the historic Gastown district, featuring Claire Martin as guest speaker.

A meteorologist, former weather reporter for CBC and Green Party candidate, Claire was invited by Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, to be one of Canada’s core 10 advisors at the COP 21 Climate Change Summit in Paris earlier this year. The women who attended the Vancouver event are all involved in promoting clean energy in some way, and appreciated hearing about what went on at the summit first-hand.

Elaine Grotefeld, a Partner in our Vancouver office, set up the new Women in Clean Tech networking group last year to provide a forum for female leaders in Clean Tech, Sustainability and Climate Change Action to connect on a regular basis. The events are attended by leaders from exciting pioneer companies including General Fusion and Carbon Engineering, as well as international players such as hydrogen-fuel-cell-provider Ballard Power Systems.

Clean tech and renewable energy constitutes Canada’s fastest growing sector, and British Columbia is a hot bed of world-class innovation in this space.
