Responding to the demand for highly-specialized talent, Odgers Berndtson is proud to welcome Michael Selim as the new Managing Director at Odgers Interim – a division of Odgers Berndtson dedicated to providing clients with a broad range of interim leaders who bring specialized skill sets to help organizations grow and compete.
More than ever, organizations are turning to highly skilled, senior-level contract executives to help drive the most powerful transformations within their organizations. According to a Forbes survey of more than 500 senior executives, 92% believe that organizational agility, or the ability to rapidly respond to market conditions and external factors, is critical to business success. Adjusting strategy is key to agility, which is why having the right talent is critical.
Michael joins the Odgers Berndtson team with a deep knowledge of the Canadian labour market and over 15 years of recruitment industry experience working with top telecommunications, financial services, technology, and professional service providers across Canada. In his new role at Odgers Interim, he will be leading the team of talent experts dedicated to researching and vetting top executives to meet each client’s specific needs – whether it’s innovating new product lines, streamlining operations, or augmenting executive skill sets.
“We’re seeing two important talent phenomena colliding in today’s economy,” says Michael. “On one hand, organizations feel mounting pressure to innovate, drive change, ditch legacy systems, and scale growth faster than ever before. On the other, we have a generation of Boomers stepping out of the full-time workforce in large numbers and a generation stepping into leadership roles 10 years earlier than their predecessors. Interim talent helps fill these most critical talent gaps by rapidly delivering highly-experienced executives to projects and organizations where they can deliver immediate value, drive transformation, and help develop existing teams.”
Michael began his career as a business intelligence consultant. He moved into the technology recruitment sector and started his own business, MAS Resources, which later joined Veritaaq in Toronto. In his role as Director of Sales with Veritaaq and later as a member of the executive team, he was instrumental in building a winning culture and scaling the private sector business, which was eventually acquired by ManpowerGroup, a Fortune 500 company. He brings a proven track record of driving results-oriented teams to success, while leveraging data and analytics to drive business growth.
“Michael understands that the best service providers are also partners. As he looks to grow the Interim team, he does so with a keen understanding of the importance of providing agile executive talent solutions to help our clients be successful today, and in the future,” says W. Carl Lovas, Chair and CEO of Odgers Berndtson Canada. “His background in helping organizations scale, along with his understanding of the Canadian marketplace, make Michael a great asset to the Odgers Berndtson business."
