In partnership with the UBC Sauder School of Business, we recently hosted an event at the Terminal City Club called “Developing the CFO of the Future.”

Our distinguished panel, made up of Cheryl Yaremko, EVP, Finance & Supply Chain and CFO (BC Hydro), Annalisa King, Corporate Board Director and Former CFO & Senior VP (Best Buy Canada) and Anil Wirasekara, EVP & CFO (MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates Ltd.) discussed the challenges that current and upcoming CFOs are increasingly facing. Issues discussed included the importance of leadership development for CFOs, stakeholder relationships (particularly the one with the CEO) and succession planning.

More than 50 finance executives from a variety of industries attended the event, which was kicked off by Robert Helsley, Dean of the UBC Sauder School of Business, and moderated by Bruce Wiesner, Associate Dean, Executive Education at Sauder and Esther McGregor, a Partner at our Vancouver office. Ross Woledge, Odgers Berndtson’s CFO Practice Leader, kicked off the panel discussion by presenting important findings from our comprehensive CFO study.

For finance executives looking to develop their leadership skills, Odgers Berndtson has developed the Business Leadership for Finance Executives program with the Rotman School of Management. For more information, please contact Ross Woledge.
