In the 2nd Annual A Bat, A Ball and A Cause cricket match, finance executives and senior leaders from the insurance industry battled it out for first place at the Toronto Cricket Club to raise funds for Autism Ontario. Players and sponsors doubled what was raised last year in the amount of $13,000 for their Transition to Life program which helps young adults with high functioning autism find meaningful employment and fulfill their potential.

Before the game, the players and sponsors heard first-hand from successful program graduate Patrick Taylor, who is now employed at Cineplex. Patrick spoke to the players and sponsors about how the Transition to Life program has positively impacted his life - his future plans are to attend Conestoga College this fall and we wish him the best of luck in his studies!

It was a close match, with the Insurance Industry team coming out on top again this year over the Finance Executives with a score of 110 to 85 runs. A range of C-suite leaders played on both teams including: Mike Vels (CFO, Sobeys), Andrew Snowden (CFO, Sherritt), David Smales (CFO, Aecon) and Kerri Brass (CFO, Teranet). Players from Odgers Berndtson included CFO Practice Leader, Ross Woledge, and Project Coordinator, David Nazareth. Sponsors of the event included Berkley Canada, Marsh, and Willis Towers Watson among others.

Special thanks to Ross Woledge and Graham Toon from Berkley Canada who helped organize this special annual event.
