Odgers Berndtson proudly partnered with Diabetes NSW to hold our Inaugural Charity Golf Event, to raise much needed funds for Diabetes. The initial idea was to create a relatively small event that we could ensure was enjoyable and repeatable with a view to grow over time. It is fair to say we underestimated the generosity of Corporate Australia in getting behind this event and the level of interest we have received right up to the last week was incredible.

The event took place on Tuesday, 24th November, a beautiful 29 degree day at the prestigious Castle Hill Country Club. 108 players teed up and had the opportunity to play in a 4 ball Ambrose game on a course that was immaculate and had something for everyone, from the 27 handicapper to the Scratch handicapper. With 6 opportunities to participate in competitions on the course from longest drive to nearest the pin, and raffle tickets sales alone we collated some $3,000. The drink/snacks carts were well utilised and raffle tickets ran out fast.

Following the game, the gala dinner kicked off at 6.30pm sharp and it wasn’t long before we all had the opportunity to listen to an extremely emotional speech from the Diabetes NSW CEO, Sturt Eastwood, and truly understand the impact of this fast growing disease.

Prize giving, as always, created a great deal of anticipation and the prizes on offer were top draw, again thanks to the generosity of corporate Australia. The winning team score was 55.25 Nett and second place was 55.37 – so a pretty close affair. Congratulations to Dominic O’Hanlon and the team from Rhipe, not only on their win, but for choosing to auction off some of their prizes for additional funds.

The raffle and business card draw saw other happy faces, great to see the Unibet Auction Voucher put to good use, the lucky winner purchasing one of two artworks donated on the day.

Proceedings continued with great food and wine, not to mention the opportunity to reminisce and exchange business cards. Then the action began with both the Live and Silent auctions creating the right level of competitive tension in the room.

In conclusion a great day was had by all, the course was outstanding, the weather was ideal and the funds we raised will ensure kids with diabetes will get the chance at a better life.

Thank you again to all our sponsors and everyone that made this Inaugural Charity Golf Event possible.
