Professor Michael Berndt, Pro-Vice Chancellor in Health Sciences has announced Professor Lin Fritschi’s arrival at Curtin University: “I am pleased to announce that Professor Lin Fritschi, a well-known cancer epidemiologist, together with her team from the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), have recently joined the Faculty.
Professor Fritschi and colleague, Associate Professor Alison Reid, Julie Crewe and Dr Renee Carey will be working alongside researchers in the School of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Professor Fritschi has a particular interest in the occupational causes of cancer and has undertaken many studies examining whether work-related exposure to various chemicals and other factors, such as shift work increases risk of cancer.
The addition of Professor Fritschi and her colleagues to our Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics will help us to create a word-class centre of research in occupational epidemiology. The centre will undertake research aimed at reducing the burden of work-related ill health in Australia and overseas”
