IT executives identify recruitment challenges

Finding qualified talent is the number one hiring challenge facing IT executives in the US, according to a new survey.

Staffing solutions provider Veritude has published recruitment research on the country's technology sector, which reveals that finding senior management with the right level of skills and experience is the biggest test facing chief information officers.

Specifically, the survey of 195 executives highlighted the problems respondents have in attracting candidates with business intelligence abilities, particularly for project management positions.

Joe Collins, senior vice president of Veritude, said: "Right now with the amount of top talent in the job market, IT hiring managers have the illusion that they can find the 'perfect' candidate no matter how specialised the requirements.

"However, managers need to prioritise the needs of the position to identify the best candidate in a sea of resumes."

Last month, the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu 2009 Consumer Business study revealed that IT executives believe that 53 per cent of companies worldwide are not responding adequately to security threats.
