Cloud computing is set to become an increasingly prominent trend among global businesses in 2012.
This is according to Claire Galbois-Alcaix, senior marketing manager for the EMEA region at data backup solutions provider Mozy, who suggested that cloud technology is having a "huge impact" on international companies.
She noted that for smaller firms, the public cloud offers the ability to introduce technologies that they would not otherwise have been able to afford, while large companies can benefit from improved efficiency and economy.
Ms Galbois-Alcaix also stated that companies are using the cloud to create duplicate virtual images of their computer systems, which can be vital for backup purposes.
"2012 will see more organisations turning to the public cloud. We believe it will be the year of mass adoption and mass acceptance of cloud as a mainstream IT solution," she said.
Earlier this month, a report from Wanted Analytics showed a 61 per cent year-on-year increase in hiring demand for professionals with cloud computing skills in the US.
