Cloud computing will see rising take-up among European businesses in the coming year, according to a business expert.
Maggie Meer, organiser of the recent 2012 Cloud Expo Europe industry conference, states that a recent Cloud Industry Forum survey of 300 companies has revealed that more than 50 per cent are already using cloud systems in some capacity.
Moreover, 73 per cent of those who are already using cloud services plan further deployments in 2012, with the highest growth areas identified as email, data storage, backup and recovery functions and collaboration services.
"What is driving it is the flexibility and agility cloud-based apps can and do deliver," she added.
Earlier this month, data backup solutions provider Mozy observed that cloud technology is likely to become a prominent business trend in 2012.
Senior marketing manager Claire Galbois-Alcaix suggested that these systems allow companies of all sizes to improve efficiency and achieve savings.
